I'm new to paper money and was wondering what Grading Service is the best. I know that there is PCGS Currency and also PMG. In your opinion which one is better and which one would you rather have your note in. Is there another big TPG that grades currency. Any info would be a big help to a newbie when it comes to paper. Thanks Nickeldude
Hello Nickeldude.... How are you? The question you ask is one some folks ponder over all the time. Grading in the best term is "subjective" meaning that those who inspect and assign grades to notes coins or what ever is being subjective to someone's opinion. There are many folks who do not like grading companies at all. I have had both good and bad experiences. For me personally, when I buy a graded note it is usually because it has a rather high value and tells me that folks in these positions that know more about Paper Money than I think in a "subjective manner" than the note is worthy of being classified. I own many many raw notes that I know are CHCU or Gem and will never have them slabbed. So the qustion you ask, my answer is that both companies are considered good and there is one other that I have never sent notes into before but I have bought notes already graded is CGC. So think about what you like and look forthe best example you can afford and if it is already slabbed..well go for it....if not, that $30 bucks a pop sure adds up when that special note comes around and it is looking so good!! Good luck to you! RickieB
i agree with RickieB all grading is subjective... and grading the graders is no different. Each person will have differing opionins. I also have a note graded by RCGS, or Rare Currency Grading Service. I am not sure if they only do world notes or not, but the note i have graded by them is a Philippines note. I bought the note that way, and have never sent a note in for grading, so have little experience beyond what i hear
