What's your two cents on breaking-up proof sets for grading? I haven't seen a lot of investment value in holding sets, but have seen what appears as investment value in coins that have been sent in for grading. Thoughts? BTW does the cost factor of grading services waste away the investment gain?

I think you need to be (a) a very good grader, and/or (b) have very deep pockets to try and play that game.

That said, there is money to be made by slabbing proof sets for grading, however, the reward is typically 70's or other top-pops -- and these are not easy coins. My sense of the modern market is there is an even bigger market in slabbing just-released coins, and if I were looking to profit from modern coins, that's where I would focus.

    REspectfully...Mike
