I was finally successfull at getting some decent coin pictures, so now I was wondering what you guys think the grades are on these walkers.

How about VF-30 on the 1939 and XF-40 on the 1943? Good examples of Walking Liberty coinage :)

Can you guys explain the basis of those opinions? I think they are quite a bit higher than that, IMO.
Perhaps you don't get a good idea of the luster because I scanned them??? Anyway, I see only slight wear, and not many flaws, and fairly well struck coins. Your definately right about the 43 being better than the 39 though.
    Thanks

    Adam,
The first I believe would grade a 35, and the second one I would grade an au-50. I graded a 35, as nearly all skirt lines are showing, however I don't feel that quite half of the leg and breast feathers are showing.

    VF25 for the 39 and XF40 on the 43.

I forgot to mention, that I think the first may grade as high as a 40, and the second as high as a 55. I've noticed that often times scans wash out luster as well as details.

The scan definately washed out some luster. However, I think you can still see the details well enough on the 43 to see that its a solid AU coin. Just MHO.

The 39 is VF IMHO and cleaned...the 43 is no better than XF---just too much wear on the high points.
