    Hello C.T friends,

I would much appreciate it if you would help me net grade and value these 3 semi-key date Barber dimes:

1897-O : Cleaned when I bought it, since Naturally toning but un-evenly.
1892-S : Looks to be in high grade and has some lustre, BUT also some scratches on obverse. Probably dipped?
1901-S : Seems to have been cleaned.

    Thanks and regards,

    Eduard

The 92 S looks about AU-50 ish to me, the 1897 O is much harder, the obv looks to be XF, but I can't see XF detail in the REv, but I'm going to stick with XF since it is a O mint. The 1901 S is a very high VF prob about a VF-30/35. Beautiful coins. Love those barber dimes

    Those are some tough dates!

    Nice.

the 1892 S-- I'd say AU. Is that a scratch above the 9 in the date ?

1897 O - typical weak New Orleans strike. I go XF.

    1901 S- Nice, VF-XF.

    Those are nice pieces.

    1897-0 - VF details $250-$275

    1901-S -VF details $300

Thank you guys, that is exactly the kind of feedback I am looking for.

I am now inventoring and valuing my collection "just in case", so my wife and sons will know approximately what it is worth, in vase they need to dispose of it.
I've got all of my major U.S coins covered, and now am getting to the minors.

Treashunt, here is a close-up of the obverse of the 92-S. It is a very difficult coin to photograph. The reverse is really nice, but as you can see the obverse is rather scuffed, and also scratched around the legend. I think the date area is OK though.

    Thanks for your opinions,

    Eduard

yes, date looks okay, I don't see the other thing anymore.

At any rate, tell them, that even if (and Note: I do not necessarily argee with Doug's assessment, ie that they are all cleaned. Man, I'd love to see his 100% original collection.) they are cleaned, that they are very tough dates, and still worth a nice premium in any grade3, and yours are nice desirable grades.

Note: If I had any chance of buying them from you I would not have been so honest!
J/K of course, they are tough coins!

PS Thanks for showing some nice Barbers.

    What grades are your Barber 1/4's? Say the 1896 S, 1901S and 1913 S?

    Beauties, I am sure.

Hi Treashunt, thanks for your comments.

You are going to hate me for this, knowing as I do that you appreciate Barbers, but I really find them a bit un-interesting from the design standpoint, so I own only very few Barbers. None of the rare quarters.

But, give me a draped bust, or flowing hair coin any day....!

    (maybe we can trade?)
