Grading an 1875-S 20 cent piece

    For coin #2, from mom, let’s try silver.
    I’ve got to set up a good place to photograph this stuff.

    Thanks @lordmarcovan for pointing me to PCGS images, but the images for this coin leave a layman wondering what to look for in grades 8 to 12.

    My guess would be 10.
    No, 8.
    Possibly 12.

    G-VG sharpness, but cleaned. Sorry.

    I agree with this, but don't feel the need to say sorry, as it is what it is. It doesn't look so unusual in comparison to a lot of the 20c pieces in this grade range.

    Any 20-cent piece is nice to have.

    I'd split the difference and go with G6 details, personally.

    I know my parents knew better than to clean anything, so it's probably one of those gifts that keeps giving. I'll make a note and learn how tell.
