Graded Sets: Do you stick with one TPG?

I have recently begun an Ms-63 minimum Peace Dollar set. Currently, I have only acquired 2 coins that happen to be graded by NGC.

One of the crossroads I am finding myself at is as to whether I should ONLY be purchasing NGC coins going forward. Of course, I know I should be "buying the coin; not the holder." However, would there be any major advantage to sticking with only NGC coins??

Thanks for your advice and input!

It depends what the purpose of the set is. I'm putting together a set of classic commemoratives right now that just happens to be mostly PCGS graded, although I do have a couple NGC and a couple raw.

The only advantage (other than possibly uniformity of display) I can see to having all PCGS or all NGC is if you were forming a grading set. In that case, you'd want to accumulate as many different graded examples of the same date and grading company.

I guess the bottom line is does it bother you to have a mix of holders or not?

If you want to start a registered set at NGC Collectors Society.

Yeah, I forgot about registry sets. I'm just not into competitive coin collecting.

I have a couple of competitive sets, but I mostly do it just to keep track of my NGC graded collection. :)

I think there are better ways to keep track of your collection. :)

I have PCGS, NGC, ANACS, and PCI. I would mostly stay with PCGS and NGC. if the price is good I see no reason not buy ANACS or PCI. opps you said sets... I thought you meant individual coins.

Outside of registry sets, I see no reason to stick with one grading company. Obviously pcgs and ngc are going to have the easiest resale potential but nice coins can be found in lower tier slabs.

Thanks for your input, everyone. I'm going to have to do a bit more research about registry sets to see if it is something I want to get involved with.
