Here is a question I haven't seen broached yet. Would a grading service which graded "rolls" draw any interest. Maybe seal them with tamper resistant tape in a transparent tube?

    Any Thoughts?

IIRC, Conder said there is a roll of 1880-S silver dollars in a Blanchard 20-coin slab. You can't grade coins in a roll so I doubt a company that certified rolls would get much business.

On the surface this doesn't sound like much of an idea since there'd be
little demand. You can't see the coins and just about anything could be
    sealed in a tube.

But perhaps there would be some interest in a service that could look at
a roll and give an informed opinion on whether or not it's an original bank-
wrapped roll or not. There would be great interest in specific dates that
might contain varieties if people trusted the opinion.

Still the demand would probably be very limited. Many of the current coins
are difficult to find in rolls and few are interested in roll sets. The little int-
erest that is seen in roll sets is mostly to retail individual coins and choice
coins are greatly preferred to original coins.

Perhaps there will be more demand in the future.

Your probably right, but here is an answer I put forth on the same subject in the International Forum

-- No, perhaps I should have been more specific. Each coin would be graded and placed in a similar group and then when the required number was accumelated then each would then be put into a tamper resistant clear plastic tube with the grade of the coins on the outside. Example, 1932-B Swiss 10 Rappen, AU-50.--

Of course you could substitute any other coin series.

    Thanks for your thoughts :)

You can send a roll to NGC and PCI I think and get a better price...but then they will all come back in slabs....IMO the only way you can grade a roll is to put something like this..

The reason I even brought it up was because I recently happened across 10 small town bank rolls of 1953-D LHCs. All are on copper planchets and in the VF-AU condition :)
