Graded coins that don't make the grade

I have a few coins that are encapsulated (NGC and PCGS) and graded as MS64 and MS65. Two of the coins have developed a spot or two and one has a fingerprint on it. I'm sure that the original grader didn't see the errors but I was wondering; if it is MS64 and then problems develop, does that invalidate the grade?

if the spot is natural toning, i would thinsk some collectors like that more.. but if its due to the fingerprint, i would think yes, it would lower the grade over time.

Yes...it kills the grade....this is when you send the coins back to PCGS or NGC and ask them to do their guarantee...they will grade the coin again and pay you the loss.

If the grader missed the fingerprint, then it is probably fresh. In that case PCGS would crack it and dip it for you, and that would probably remove the fingerprint.

And then there are those who will swear on a stack of bibles that a given coin did not have a fingerprint on it when it was submitted to PCGS. But magically had one when it returned

But both NGC & PCGS have slabbed coins that do have fingerprints on them and yes it should affect the grade in a negative way.
