Just picked this up at a coin shop I'd never visited before...in a bag of foreign silver marked "80%." Feel free to hate on me...silently, and to yourself or your pet of choice.

(FWIW, I didn't know it was a key until I looked it up at home...I thought, "1870's Canadian dime for melt? All day every day.")

I'm thinking it's a VG. What do you think?

VG looks about right to me. Fantastic find. I just had a similar experience. I bought some Newfoundland coins off a semi-dealer for about a buck each. Uncirculated 1943 and 1944c in the batch. I'm sending the 1944 off to PCGS today.

I agree VG, with better than average eye appeal. Definitely a great score, congrats

I agree with VG. It's about a $400 coin if you can get it in a problem free slab as VG. VERY nice pick up for $1 melt!

No hate here I always love to see fellow CTers cherry picks.

I no longer have it but I once cherry picked an 1896-O Barber half in Fine condition from a 90% junk box.
