I'm guessing those notched-away places around the rim in the obverse image are something that was done to the image, not something that was done to the coin, right?
I would go with F-15, but I do have one F-12 that looks similar. http://www.1881o.com/all-coins.html I might go with F-12 because of all the surface abrasions
Cleaned, Fine Details, a "good" year but a poor example, unfortunately. I would not personally do more than double the melt value for it (not that I'd be in the market) - an NGC AU Details, Cleaned example sold at Heritage a few days ago for $65.
The commonly accepted practice for details coins like this is to not assign an actual number. F-12 or 15 doesn't really matter - it generally falls into the "Fine" range.
Didn't mean to imply wear, just damaged enough for a downgrade. I certainly agree with the cleaning analysis. The details to me look borderline F-12, but that is what makes this interesting. Or maybe I am just an old guy with bad eyesight!
