Submitted for your review is an 1890 S Morgan. Has it been cleaned (small scratches)? Click on the pics for a more detailed view.
Keh,it is very difficult to tell,as there was a hoard of these coins in high grade that was discovered in a bank vault a few years back. There were some very scarce dates in this hoard.Fortunately, these coins were bought by a crowd in the numismatic trade, who started to sell them into the marketplace. You asked about the cleaning.....I think I see some small hairlines in the field to the left of the face. It's tough to tell from the pics, but are there parallel hairlines all over the coin?
I only see them in the area you mentioned. There are also some on the reverse. You can see them better by looking at the larger pics. I should take pics of all my coins. I can see a lot more detail in the pics than by looking through a loop!
Keh, I think your coin just has bag marks, and perhaps a little circulation wear. I can't tell from the pictures, but I believe it would grade somewhere within au-58 and ms-62.
This one has been really tough for me to tell. I can't tell if there is a rub of circulation on the front or not. But based on the back, which seems uncirculated, I will go ahead and say its an uncirculated MS-61.
"Submitted for your review is an 1890 S Morgan. Has it been cleaned (small scratches)?" I don't know if it has been cleaned, and the marks may be simple bag marks, not circulation.
