Hey everyone, here are two Morgan dollars. Can I get some opinions on grade and price? I'm having trouble grading them because they holder is scratched and dirty. Also, can anyone tell me what is going on with the date on the 1880 coin? Is that just dirt? Thanks again.

I would not have a problem calling the 1902 MS63 and if some of those scratches are truly on the plastic as high as 64, it is a beautiful piece. The 1880 is also MS but I can't tell if the plastic is horribly scratched up or if its the coin. If indeed it is the coin its a MS60, cleaned, retoned. If its the plastic then the coin is MS61 ish, with dullish toning on the rev, imo. Either way a pair of nice coins.

    I'd go with 61 & 63.

Thanks for the input everyone. I'll try to get some pictures of the coins outside of the holder as soon as I can. Unfortunately, that black streak on the reverse of the 1902 is on the coin, not the holder. Any1 know what caused that? Thanks again

It's hard grading your coins with the bad slabs , I'd say both coins are MS-62 + or - 1 point . I'd put them in some new holders . Like Intercept Shield 2X2s .
