1914-D with some obvious minor "nicks" or "chunks" in several spots. What grade would you give this? I received this as a gift many years ago from my old man for my penny collection. thanks, John
Thanks guys! The color is substantially darker in hand. Does the VF-20 grade take into account the small "chunks"(dont know what to call them)....ie, the area under Lincoln's eye, and the piece under Liberty? Would you expect PCGS to bodybag a coin with these issues?
I don't have a redbook and am curious what the value of this coin is for the grade? (F15-VF20). cheers, John
CDN bid/ask for April is $330/$360 for F-12 and $390/$430 in VF-20. I think the hits are ok for a coin of that grade, no real damage, just honest circulation dingers. You could try to bargain the hits into the price, but it may not work like it would on a higher grade coin.
Here is my 1909-s to grade. The color is a little more of a red-brown. The second obverse pic is a little blurry, but you can see some of the details better than the first. thanks.
keeping in mind.. I dont know much about varietys for Lincoln cents.. But is that S doubled on the First picture?
it's not doubled as far as I can see. Please forgive my subpar photography skills. I only included the second picture because the lighting source shows some of the details better than the first.....but any doubling apparent is just my bad photography....
The 1914-d I would say vf-20. Nice coin. The dings don't distract from the coin imo at all. Nice even color. The 1909-s I would say AU. Can't really see clearly but would guess AU-50. Nice coin!
Im gonna say the 1914-D is F to VF as the Reverse has a nice sharp strike and shows very little wear compaired to the Obverse. The 1909-S is XF45 to maybe AU50. Those pictures arnt to easy to tell from. Either way very nice to have.
