Thad - you sure those are die polish lines ? Looks more like it was struck through grease to me. I'd have to go 63 on this.
When I see those I call them stretch marks. The die pressure was insufficient to smooth the fields. I've seen this quite a few times on the S and D mints....correct me if I'm wrong.
I can't say you're wrong. But there seems to be enough detail present in the hair and the wheats to indicate that the strike was not so weak that it could not smooth out a planchet. And I have never seen a planchet that was that badly striated either. Thus my theory that a grease strike is more likely.
Looks like an extremely fatigued die to me. Neat coin. I'd grade it 64 because of the obverse scratch.
