I recently got this double eagle. I'd love to keep it, but must sell it. This is the first one I have owned and know very little about them. I am guessing about AU50. What do you guys think? Where would be the best place to sell it and how much could I get for it?

I would guess 58. Nice looking coin.

Would you give me some details on how you got that to help me learn please?

I would agree with AU something, just not sure which based on the pics. But it doesn't really matter since the price difference between 50 and 58 is only about $300. Value should be somewhere around $4500.

As to how do you get to the AU grade, wear on the high points.

What do I need to do differently to get better pics?

Any tiny change in the angle and/or lighting, or the camera settings, will produce different outcomes in the pics. So just experiment a bit, take more pics and then look at them. if one shows better luster than another, post it. If one shows more marks than another, post it too. If one shows more wear than another, post it as well.

But in all honesty I can't see anything changing enough to change my opinion. I see nothing that makes me think the coin is a fake. I see nothing that makes me think the coin is a problem coin - but I admit it is possible that could change with different pics, but I doubt it will.

Here are two better pics. I friend recently suggested using a cell phone which does take a better pic.
