Here is an 1899 1/2 Eagle which I haven't pulled out for a long time and nobody on the list has ever seen :) What grade do you think it's worth?

    Thanks

MY, MY MS-63 :) I think it has some wear. Check the hair, it appears a little flat to me.

I wondered about that hair but then I reminded myself I don't collect gold coins.:D Now that I know that is wear I'll say AU-58.Thanks Bone for the tip!;) B12

Hi nice coin, however, there is some rim damage at 7 O'clock that will distract from the grade. The facial marks will also take away from it..with the wear and general condition I would say AU50..just my opinion.
    Nice coin though...

The coin looks like it has impared luster. I grade it AU 50. NGC might grade it 55. I do not see it in an MS slab. Nice coin in any event, and now is a great time to own some common date gold...Mike

There appears to be wear in quite a few places - all of the hair shows signs, the top edge of the headband, the low hair curl, the eybrow, the stars & rim etc. The reverse is much the same. I'd say EF40.

I thought about the same thing GD. I was thinking maybe around EF45. I think it may have a bit much wear to go AU. The wear is most noticeable to me on all of the hair, including the bun at the back of the head that has hardly any definition any more and on the eagle's neck on the reverse.

Nice coin though Bone. I bet if it's been put away for a while, that you probably got it at a pretty good price too. As you know, I love the gold Liberties!
