Were it not for that scratch on the obverse, I think it would go 66. As it is, the major TPGs would likely body bag it.
Here's another picture, with a partial view of the scratch....are you sure it's a scratch, It looks almost like a die break or something....but you're probably right...lol
i am not either but i cant see it being a ms-66 with those contact marks on the cheek either. GDSPJM guy is really good thou so i am not sure
I'm sure he'll respond when he signs in, but since he's not signed in at this time posting reminders won't accomplish anything.
MS 65 PL...sucker almost looks DMPL. Would not be bodybagged. I'd love to know how much this things goin for. Also pay for the variety when you have it graded. Can't remember exact VAM number but I know it is one. VAM 5 maybe, or 11? Oh well anyway I'd get it!
i think it would go ms 65 pl. i have seen 1rst tier slabs w/ similar contact marks so i am in doubt it would be body bagged. nice coin.. good luck!
I see the PL on the reverse, but the obverse dosen't make it for me. Also, I don't believe that is a scratch. More likely a bag mark, and it would be slabbed, not body bagged.
Assuming the coin hasn't been altered in any way, I think it would grade a ms-65. I don't feel the coin has enough reflectivity on the obverse to make pl. A lot of 1878 dollars have pl and dmpl reverses it seems.
Aren't they all? It looks nice, except for that chatter on the obverse lower right. Can't tell how bad it is. EDIT: I've changed my guess to a VAM 18.
