I bought this coin some time ago. It was sold as MS with a weak strike. I’m wondering what you all think?

Not MS XF-AU at best but as said already "cleaned" so a details coin...
Though I do like the album toning on it the color makes me fear it could be pvc damage...

Interesting example of a weak strike. The Meat Tenderizing Pounder was obviously underweight.

Low XF, maybe a pocket piece.

MS? You must mean Minor Sirculated. To me that’s low XF at best.

AU sharpness, polished. It will not get a straight grade.

Thanks everyone. I doubted it was MS but wanted to know for sure. It now melts for more then I paid so I'm happy whatever the condition.

As far as cleaning I'm not sure. I'm not saying its hasn't been but just to learn. What signs point to that?
I don't have the skill to get good pictures of it but I can still see the cartwheels, Especially in the fields.

The color changes some depending on light and the cartwheels while weaker are still visible under the toning. that would rule out PVC right? or am I mistaken?

Not an expert, particularly on toned coins, regarding cleaning. A general question about this on all coins, do the lighter areas around the devices (on this one around the stars and date) usually evidence that it has been polished?

All of the shiney areas that are not toned have a reflective look to them. It's the kind of look you would seen on a Proof-Like dollar. It's the sort of thing that you can teach only if you have a polished coin and a P-L coin side by side. Then you can see the difference.

Pretty eye appeal. Wear on hair, hits on the cheeks. I'm at EF40. Don't see any signs of cleaning, but I'd be suspicious of artificial toning.

That looks like natural toning to me. If you want to see some artificial toning, boy howdy, do I have some goodies for you. :p ANACS didn't even remark on the toning, but it didn't cover up the cleaning some idiot did years ago. :p
