    Me and my wife are debating grade and value. I posted pictures of this guy in a different thread so sorry for the duplication but I would like to know if you think I did ok on this nickel.

    Paid $16 including shipping.

    Look forward to your thoughts/grades.

    I'd say it has AG details.
    It is corroded, and some of the corrosion was scraped away, in order to read the date and motto.
    A retail value of $5-$10 would be more than fair.

    I agree.

    Poor, AG details, probably would sell for half AG price. Not a pretty coin.

    Eye of the beholder - I'm happy to add a first year nickel to my collection in any condition. I'm sure I will not look too pretty after 151 years either - even at 42 I'm a little rough around the edges. :) As funds permit, maybe I can add one in better condition and then I'm sure I will find someone happy to have this one.

    Thanks for the grade.

    Then that is all that counts, if you like it, then it was a good purchase.

    O - I agree. I was very happy to have it.

    Didn't mind the feedback though;
    1 - I asked for it and
    2 - it's good to hear what other collectors/dealers/... think when they see coins in different conditions. It's easy to spot a gem and say it's just that but with much older coins how are they graded and perceived in circulated/recovered condition is a great part of the learning process.

    Thanks :smile
