Looks at least MS-64 maybe 65. Very nice coin, I see no problems. Pictures never do coins justice. The steps could be full, hard to tell, but still quite nice. Keeper for sure.
Man, sweet coin! I agree, MS-64 atleast. But ya never know with pics. Is it FS? Nice coin!!! :thumb: Phoenix
When I first saw this coin it looked very reflective for a business strike. Looking again could this be a proof????
Wow, you're sharp, I didn't think anyone would notice that. This proof is impaired in more than one way. In hand the coin looks great, under a loupe it looks great, but when photographed under the right light, the ugliness comes out. I bought this coin online, but from a local dealer. Thought I would be safe staying local. The dealer is somewhat cooperating with me for a return, but claims the coin was looked over and assigned a grade (wiched did not include impaired) by a "respected member of the ANA" I don't know. Hard to believe no one caught all the problems with this coin untill a rookie got ahold of it. Notice what looks like rust by Jeffersons eye brow in the field. Scratches where GDJMSP pointed out HUGE scratches on the reverse. This is the same coin in sunlight.
Off topic question here. The star inbetween the date and liberty is very weak I noticed on all the unc. examples of 1938 Jeffs I have, even on this crappy proof. Seems like only 4 points show up. My 39's all have sharp 5 points. Any thoughts on this?
Are the Scratches from something like an old coin folder with those old slide in pieces of clear sheeting? Also---as for the stars.....somewhere around here I have an article Jason wrote on VN about the star changing....let me see if I can find that. Speedy
