Just keep in mind the scope of "the world" in your collecting plans. Many folks compare collecting US notes versus collecting "world" notes, as if they were both about the same size of a project. Actually, many countries have just as many and interesting banknotes as the US, and you will be buried in possibilities even collecting one country, let alone "the world". So my recommendation to anyone starting out is to find your particular interest *before* you start spending a bunch of money, and the focus your energy and money on that interest. Yes, a stack of "world notes" will be fun to rummage through, and may help you find that particular interest. But over time you'll most likely come to the conclusion that it was a very random purchase, not aligned with your newly-discovered collecting interest, and mostly ends up remaining a "stack of notes" in some box. So as long as you're not paying a whole lot for these grab bags, and using them to learn a bit more about different countries that may interest you, I think you're on exactly the right path. Dave
I purchased a 25 count of "world notes" I wanted a collection from differant countries, but was really eyeing an english mpc in a certain auction. After recieving the notes, I was amazed by the artwork, detail, dates, countries... my head was spinning wanting to get more from the same and other countries. Well, took a breath, came back down to earth. Is it a good idea? It was for me. The prices for some of those grab bags are not bad. I think its a great way to launch a "world" collection. However as Dave M mentioned above these countries have many interesting notes and many possibilities. Stay focused and have fun. Brian
well like my world coins i dont want to get a huge like i specialize in these countrys or anything i just want a lot of random things to flip through i do amarican coins for specilazing i might get into amarican bills to idk yet though
I think collecting for what you are interested in is the best way to guage worth in ebay lots. I have a love for early 20th century German notes during Weimar Republic, especially notes called "Notgeld", basically the equivalent of obsolete notes in 19th century America. With this in mind, I have purchased a nice lot or two from ebay and have been pleased. If you're just trying to find a niche for yourself, this would be a great way to start. Good luck and have fun!
