It has been a long 30 days waiting for this coin to come up to auction. I sold a 1oz gold coin just to make sure that I could get the coin. 1959 is one of the hardest coins to get in ultra cameo. The pop is 2/0 in PF69UC by NGC and 3/0 by PCGS. Only 90 coins have been graded in the ultra cameo level.
Huge pickup Jaime. Love it!! The only thing missing is the toning that is so synonymous with your set.
That is a fantastic coin and believe it or not. I prefere my DCAM coins to be untoned. In my experience, the toning can prove to be a distraction to the cameo contrast. Congrats!
Funny, I was just about to say, in response to this thread, if only it was toned! Regardless, it is a very nice coin, and I'd have to say I'm a tad jealous.
I'm sure Jaime would rather have a toned example also, but with the pop being 5/0 from both services in 69 UC/DC, the options were somewhat limited.:smile
$1150 but my max bid was higher. There are only 2 graded by NGC and the other one sold for $1495 in July 2003.
I love toned Roosevelt but like Paul already said I also like my UC coins to be untoned. I love the jet black mirrors and the frosting just makes it pop!! :hail:
Well I bought the gold coin back in 2002 for less than $300 and I sold it for $1200. I am very happy with my decision to sell and buy the Roosevelt!!
What a find Schatzy! I'm only 3 behind you on the registry but if you keep adding those top-of-the-line Roosys I don't stand a chance. Deepest congrats from another serious collector!
