Hello all. As some of you know, I don't get out much in the Summer for health reasons. When I do however, I always check my change and currency when going to a store. This week I got one of these Jovita Idar Quarters. I personally think that they should have portrayed her as a bust portrait with some symbols representing her career and lifelong goals. I also think that they got the wrong portrait as this reminds me of a black woman not a Spanish woman. She by the way was an attractive woman for her day. I think that they should have designed her blouse differently. Her she is in a Portrait from 1905. Just look at the Picture and the portrait on the coin. They look somewhat different.
In my (and apparently only my) opinion, I like it. The clear fields around the portrait are innovative as is the way wording comprises her blouse.
Derk, thank you for taking one for the team! We knew there would be one, just not sure who it would be. We owe you one!
Make that two. I happen to like it as well, I think it shows some creativity and thinking outside the box. The plain fields are an eye catcher, as on the innovation dollars. The only problem is every time I see it my first impression is "foreign coin".
