It’s not really surprising to find such asking price differences in modern coins graded PR69 and PR70. There’s a lot of differing opinions on whether the difference is truly valid on coins minted last week or last month. I tend to be highly cynical.

Splitting hairs with otherwise common coins........let the ridiculousness prevail........and mark me people, it is ridiculous. In two years you'll be able to pick these two coins up at a fraction of what they've fetched........don't drink the bloody Kool-aid.

But is it some kind of error though on the Block Island Reverse Proof?

Errors normally don’t have anything to do with these prices.

If you want a PR70 in this coin, there are two bidding around $30 on eBay.

Looks like one (PR70) is a photoshopped pick. The PR69 looks like a photo. That is the difference. Honestly, I can't tell the difference between most 69s and 70s. And definitely not worth the price difference.

    At that price I don't need a 70.

Only difference is the grade (Possibly how the grader was feeling that day, maybe something he ate didn't agree with him so the one got a 69.)

The thing is for some reason the Block Island quarters have been getting a much lower ratio of 70's to 69's than the other quarters, so the price of the 70's show a BIG jump. Since typically most people can't point out a difference between a 69 and a 70 other than the label, if I wanted one I would be perfectly happy with the 69. and put the other $350 toward something else I wanted.

The difference is / was the dies for the block island were poorly prepared resulting in initially low pop in 70. The price hit $1500 in short order. The large dealers then mass screened the blocks which then resulted in hundreds being submitted in bulk, pops in 70 thus went up & price moved downward...old hat from months back.
