I've got to admit that it looks real but I will leave the official word to Mike! It definitely appears to be a nice Double Struck Error with the initial strike being the Off-Center strike then the coin planchet was kicked back into the collar and struck normally over top of the Off-Center strike. If it is in fact authentic, I would venture to say that it will garner a fairly nice price if offered up for auction even though it will only grade at VF to possibly a low EF.

I saw this coin on ebay recently or one that is an exact duplicate.
I found it questionable and did not place a bid. If the off-center strike was first, why wasn't more of it obliterated on the second strike?

I'm honestly confused. If this is an accidental double strike, I don't get why much of George details wasn't flattened out. What is more disturbing is how the edge of the double struck area wasn't flattened too much either. I'm not too convienced.

It’s a Double Struck. A really nice one too.

If you read through www.minterrornews.com, you may find some sales history you can base a price on.

My friend....anything can be faked and this type of thing has been faked before....errors are a big thing to fake.
Many people can't see how their coin is fake....but it can be.

Sorry to be a killjoy, but the second strike was administered by fake dies. The first strike is too little affected by the second strike. The first and second strike design elements blend together smoothly instead of showing sharp but intermittent penetration. The second strike details are not sharply defined and the surface is roughened. In short, this coin lacks all the characteristics of a genuine double strike.

Well I do not know about the rest of you guy's impression on this individual, but after several post and replys (by other members) that use the proper words in context..I think we are being palyed here! Hope it is not the case...but it sure looks like it to me. Please excuse this unusual post from a fairly humble man!

what I don't understand about this quarter is the doubling of the "In God We Trust." If it was doubled the same time "Liberty" was, shouldn't "In God We Trust" be lower and to the right more than where it's at? And how did Washingtons head get left out of the doubling? Things don't match up.

Alot of times coin dealers don't know a lot about errors.....errors is not like other coins and it takes time to know what it real and what it not.....Mike here is an expert....and I trust his jugement.
