As you can tell by the tile I am leaving Coin talk, hopefully forever! In the last few months I tried to be an avid collector by visiting this site daily and asking advice if I needed any, BUT it seemed like everyone here knows nothing (no offense) I was ridiculed, looked down apon because of my age AND most importantly my friend which I recommended to the site was criticized because he was too nice! He merely complemented and replied to every comment with a nice tone. Some of you were nice like my friend(which will not be named) but only one person really can ruin my day. Don't bother to reply to this and making me look like a bad guy I'm not, and to all of you who were nice, Coinman1234, Coinzip, Doug1974 and Spirityoda thank you! Hopefully all of you learn and change.
P.S Green18, Cmp9ball and Booksb4coins I hope you leave too so know one leaves like I did (If you catch my drift)

There's a function to report posts. If you think someone is breaking the rules, use it. If you are offended by something that is NOT a violation of the rules, I would guess you would have to grow a thicker skin.

There's also an ignore button. It's a great way to get rid of those people who annoy you.

I tried once but they never really stop, they just annoy me in another way, thank you for your consideration.

@Maxim Hofstede , I'm sorry to see you leaving CT. Yes, I agree your baptism on the site was a little rough, but IMO, you brought some of that on to yourself. Not all, but some. As for your cousin, IMO, he came in to defend you and was lashing out pretty hard.

Again, sorry to see you go. Hopefully, you'll look back one day and realize that during any confrontation, both sides are equally at fault.

Stick around. Me thinks if you really were "gone"...you wouldn't have bothered to post this IMO: Whiners cry for sympathy. On one hand (speaking for myself) no one really cares what you decide to do in the long run. On the other hand, although I have not read any of your posts to check out your claims, I hate "quitters." It does you or us any good as you may have some good info to share here at some point.

Look at it this way. Many here are ignorant/misinformed when compared to others here. I'm no James Halperin, Walter Breen, Tom Delorey, etc. (all knowledgeable numismatists who added much to our hobby) The worst posters here have no clue what they don't know and consider themselves as "experts' in their eyes and others on CT. Phooey!

Many of us, with just a smidgen of knowledge, hate to keep answering "easy" questions from those less informed on BASIC numismatics like how to hold a coin. Or what's my "piece of numismatic "junk" worth. I've stopped even reading "Is my coin a doubled die?" threads. It's a waste of my time. We all have certain skills and personalities. I love to poke at posts and posters I don't agree with. I have a sarcastic streak that many people hate until they get to know me (?). Shucks, perhaps it is lucky for you that I never saw your posts as I may have gotten an "honorable mention" above also.

If you do stick around, it will make you a MORE INFORMED and less thinned-skinned collector. The three posters you mentioned above are very informed on many subjects and often "teach" using "tough love." My advice: GET OVER IT and have some fun.

I'm really sorry to hear you are leaving. But it really does not matter which forum you go on, there will always be some that are just plain grumpy or have become jaded over the years. Quitting should not be an option but learning who to sift out in their replies should be something you need to explore. Your age is not a factor in this as all of us started out at some point knowing little or nothing. Most here are always willing to help. We need young numismatists to carry the flag after we are gone. I'm sure you have already found out in this age of social media that no matter where you go, be it Facebook, Tumblr or any other site, someone is going to find some fault, someone is going to try and stick you in the eye with stick, etc. So, try and stay awhile longer and do the task of weeding out those you feel are an insult to our hobby by their rudeness. Rude people thrive on continuing to do so until they think they can chase you away. Give it another chance. Use the ignore button and if someone here breaks the rules, turn them in. They will be dealt with.

It's hard for new guys everywhere.

It may be against your nature but the best way to break into a new place is to just break into a new place. Act like you own the joint and have a very thick skin. As soon as everyone knows they can't chase you off you'll be accepted. It's OK to be nice.

Just because you started this thread doesn't mean youhave to leave but it might make being accepted a little more difficult. This is actually one of the friendlier sites and there's only one friendlier.

Good luck in all your endeavors.

Sorry to see a YN go... :(

You can't let one person ruin your day (that's just wrong), ya' gotta' move on in life. Some members here have a bad sense of humor, learn how to handle that. Whatever you decide hope you do well. GL

I don't think I ever responded to any of your posts but I did read them. I remember you stated you had a Garret AT Pro metal detector. That is so cool. I'm getting one for my birthday next week. Today I went out with my Whites Classic 5ID and found some clad before the sun went down.
Anyways.. I don't know if you are serious about leaving.. so happy dirt fishing!
