Hi everyone. I'm looking for an authoritative reference book on U.S. transit tokens. I have quite a few that have been passed down to me from my late grandparents, and I have thought about starting a collection.

I've looked on Amazon, and nothing really jumps out at me in this regard.

Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks Chris. I am slooooowly drilling down to the info I need, thanks to your tip!

The TAMS website had a page for "transportation" tokens (I've always known them as "transit" tokens). That page pointed me to the "Atwood's Catalog of United States and Canadian Transportation Tokens" published by the American Vecturist Association.

I've found that membership in the AVA gives me the ability to purchase the catalog at a very reasonable price from the association. The AVA also issues monthly updates to the catalog.

I am documenting this for any other CT members who may have a similar interest in collecting transportation/transit tokens and are looking for a reference.

I'm glad that the tip proved to be helpful to you. It was just a shot in the dark. Good luck with your transportation tokens.

Cool, I have maybe 80 to 90 bus tokens that I collected over a couple of years and stopped because I got sidetracked. First I was only gonna collect California tokens, then I went to only one for every State then I went to only collecting Railroad tokens. Guess I got discouraged b/c the prices for some of them seem so darn low. Anyways, I placed almost all in 2x2's and placed them in a binder, I'll have to get to them one of these days. :thumb:
