Well I went to the CD for coins. I bought 2 coins. 1.A 1909P VDB vg coin. 2. I bought a 1955 MS 63 Frankie half graded By ANACS. Whats the value? I will release the price I paid after. Thanks, Ricky...
Well a cents worth of copper is about 3¢ and the half's silver is worth about $11.00 now we have to figure in the numismatic value and that is hard without seeing if the assigned grades are correct.
Without seeing pictures, that penny you can usually fetch in VG condition for about $10 on most days. Paying more than $15 would be paying too much in my opinion. As for the Franklin, I'd say $25 would be a great deal, over $35 your wasting money and can find that coin or similar for less elsewhere.
Ricky - you can determine this yourself. Goto heritage and see what comparable coins go for. I do this after every trip to the local shop - especially on the graded stuff. As a matter of fact I do it when I shop online also. So if a dealer I like has a coin at $200 and I can get it for $100 from heritage - then I skip it. But If I can get it on heritage for $180 and $200 at a dealer - I buy from the dealer. Bottom line - sometimes no matter what you paid some will say you over paid for the coin. To me it is more important I figure it out for myself, understand myself and decide myself if I over spent. And sometimes I know it when I do it - but I want the coin. Sometimes not as much about the money as the coin and my collection. If you are really happy with the coins - then you did not over spend. At the same time it does not hurt to do the research. You also learn along the way. PS - It also helped me determine the local shop has reasonable prices. For example the last coin I bought was PCGS AU55 $1 gold - I spent $275 and on heritage the recent coin in this grade went from 275 to 322(with BP of course). So I did fine and this was without my normal discount - figure because I am going down there so seldom lately.
