well i went to seven eleven tonight to get a drink, of course all i had were half dollars from earlier today that i had looked thru well the lady at the cash register complain how her drawer was going to be heavy and told me that a lady had come in earlier and paid with dollar coins, first thing i asked is if they were the presidential, she said no the big ones, so i asked if i could trade for them and lucky me one of them was a 1925 s peace dollar,.

    Sweet.

Unfortunate that people are actually spending that stuff, but your knowledge means money in your pocket.

    I concur.

Most of the 7-Elevens in my city are in neighborhoods which [even in normal times] tend to have a lot of folks with economic challenges. And coincidentally its the 7-Elevens where I've come across the most wheats and IHCs when I am just passing through... They say during difficult times folks cash in whatever they can get their hands on.

Sounds like an amazing find! I often thought about going to the grocery store early on Saturdays to see if any of the older folks paid with some of the nice 90%ers.

Oh, and yeah, before I forget... I heard a story once from numismatic friend. One time he was in a 7-11 (in one of those challenged neighborhoods) and saw a lady hand over a stack of Liberty Walking so she could buy her lotto tickets! He was next in line, so needless to say, he got the clerk to swap them for cash.

There isn't a 7-11 around where I live, I kinda wish there was now.

I had a friend who used to manage a 7-11 and a liquor store. He always said that when people were desperate for cigs or booze they would spend anything they could get their hands on.

Perhaps it's the images, but it looks like a modern counterfeit.

Perhaps... yet sometimes one has to be careful what they wish for! Around here, old coins aren't the only things that can be found and are attracted to 7-11s.
