I got a denver 2005 Jefferson/Buffalo nickel as change for lunch today. I haven't seen very many of them, this one really struck me as it's golden colored like a sacagawea dollar. Is it some kind of proof coin or something? I looked online but I can't find anything about it. I took some (blurry) pics with my phone, attached. Sorry to trouble you guys but it seemed interesting to me, the pics I could find online didnt seem to be golden colored.

    Thanks for any feedback

No trouble at all. Welcome! Could you take some better pics? A tip for you to get real close without it becoming blurry. On your camera the should be a button or icon that has a flower on it. Press it. I think it is called the macro mode, but not sure. Personally it looks plated, but not sure by the pics. Still, a neat find, to say the least. ;)

I am pretty sure at this point it's plated - I found a seller on ebay offering gold plated 2005 jeffersons that look similar. It was pretty cool to find though. Pics attached.

Yep, looks plated. But still, very nice find. :thumb: Do you collect other coins?

Something I've noticed with these 2005 nickels is toning has been happening very rapidly. I've pulled quite a few out of change and even a few that were at the end of my mint rolls that were similar. A very nice gold colored toning that was very even. While I don't necisarily like it, it is interesting!!
