    I think you have a plating error, most common in 1982.

    Looks like a washing machine job in a strong bleach wash, LOL...

    Sorry guys, but these are commonly promoted in Coin World. The brassy look is from zinc planchets falling into the plating mix and causing the brass color in the plating.
    They are slabbed as 'Brass" cents.
    (As oppsed to copper plate).
    I may have my chemistry mixed up, but that is how they are advertised.
