hi could u help ive been told by british museum to get this coin valued by some coin dealers this coin weighs 5 grams size 15mm 13mm 3mm thick found in bushey watford near a possible iron age site below is what they said at museum..... Dear Alan, It is an interesting coin - it is not like anything recorded on the Celtic Coin Index or Portable Antiquities Scheme. It doesn't look much like anything in the catalogues of either Britain or continental Iron Age coins. In appearance it most closely resembles a group of staters from Germany known as 'Rainbow Cups'... but only vaguely and is most probably a previously unrecorded coin type. As a museum employee I am afraid I am not allowed to value objects, and would not be qualified to do so anyway. If you wish to sell it you would have to have it valued by dealers (see http://www.numis.co.uk/bnta.html ). As for a date, it is difficult to say - especially as we don't know which series it bhttp://watfordanddistrictmetaldetectingclub.co.uk elongs too. For now it is safest to say that it probably dates to between the mid 2nd and mid 1st centuries BC. i have enclosed high res photos, i hope u can give a rough estimate regards alan.
