This is a recent addition to my collection. After hearing the story of what Kim Thanh bars were and the history behind it I was hooked and wanted one for my collection. Most I saw around that time were badly wafered from being hidden in suit cases or clothing and didn't have the eye appeal for me. Luckily I found a seller that had this one for sale and i immediately purchased it. Its exactly 15.5 grams of pure gold and wafer thin very easy to nick or bend.

Kim Thanh was a gold bullion dealer from before 1975 in Saigon, Hanoi Hong Kong and Vietnam. They produced the wafer bars as I have purchased and also bullion bars. These came in many weights (even Taels) and the wafer bars had a thin oil paper with the Kim Thanh logo. These bars were very famous in Cambodia and Vietnam and many refugees fleeing communism and war would sell all their belongings and transfer their money into the bars and do their best to take a boat to a friendly country and start a new. These bars were hidden in suitcases and clothing to keep from theft but also was very hard on the material as it bends very easy. Many of the refugees even would sail out in small boats hoping to get picked up by US Navy boats and get brought into the USA.

I bought it from a seller online actually. I would guess you could find some online. Check Ebay or vcoins etc.
