According to the Red Book the $2.50 quarter eagle Indian Head was mnted from 1908-29 with an incuse design at Philadelphia, and Denver. The $5 half eagle was minted during the same period at Philadelphia, Denver, San Francisco, and (in 1909 only) New Orleans.

The "star rim" is a characteristic of the $10, non-incuse, Indian Head eagles, minted from 1907-11 with 46 stars and from 1912-33 with 48 stars, at Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco.

The Red Book doesn't describe any coins with both the incuse design and the star rims.

Man, I guess I'm going to have to pick. Thx 4 the info. I like the $10 size but I like the incuse design. Which one should I pick? I forgot 2 mention I want 2 buy one graded by NGC. Thx Roy :)

ps...Does the 2.5 and 5 dollar coins have wire or smooth rim? TIA

Silver Dollar Man...as far as I know the 2.5$ Indian was minted from 1908-1929 it has the incuse type strike and "stars" on the obverse..never saw anything different or one without stars..if anyone knows different please let us know..

Thx Rickie, as Roy said the stars are only on the edge of the $10 Indian. oh well maybe I'll get both. hehe
