Gold Half Dollar

    Hello,
    I was Coin Roll Hunting a half dollar box today (found a walking liberty a 1964 and 4 40%:)) and one of the coins in the box was gold it had 1960 and 1980 stamped on it.
    what should I do with it?

    You should post a picture of the coin in question. It has most likly been gold plated.

    Probably looked like one of these, a twentieth anniversary gimmick in honor of JFK's inauguration, put out by a number of different companies (I use that term loosely) looking to make a quick buck; you can see the stamped dates "1960" and "1980" over the motto 'In God We Trust':

    These were sold in 1980 and 1985 (25th anniversary) for around $5.00; it was worth fifty cents then, and still is. Here's one of the original ads:

    Use it to buy something as it's worth is $.50.

    It's plated.

    I still 'em at my local flea market... usually get a buck for them. But it's still worth fifty cents.

    I think they are beautiful, and if I came across one, I would put it with other oddities. Only worth fifty cents, monetariily, but aesthetically pleasing to me!

    Its an oddity. I would probably just hold onto it as the weird coin that it is, even though its clearly not gold or valuable.
