I'm moving soon and while cleaning out a drawer I discovered a 24k gold dipped 1923 peace dollar coin. I've included a picture of the coin as an attachment. Under the assumption that it's mint (I doubt that it is) what do you think something like this would be worth? Thank you!
Howdy AFrancavilla - Welcome to the Forum !! Unfortunately plated coins like this have no numismatic value whatsoever. Their only value would be based on bullion content - in this case that would be about $6.
I'm guessing 10-15$ or less to a hardcore collector,but i must admit it does look kind of cool with the gold plating. Luckily it's not a 1928 key date,that would be a shame.
The gold plating seems rather thick from the photo. Would this amount to much if it were melted off the silver ?
