I am new to this forum and wanted to share some pics.

I got this coin and have always wondered what it is and worth. I found this forum and thought it would be a good place to inquire.

It has some really cool engravings around the outside edge...some words and some pics that look like hieroglypics.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    See pics below...

You have what is known as a "restrike", which is a coin struck from original dies, but not for circulation. Austria has a long history of producing restrikes, including the silver 1780 Maria Therese Thaler which is still being produced today.

The 100 Corona coin, KM#2819, featuring a bust of Austrian Emperor/Hungarian King Franz Josef on the obverse and the Austrian crowned double-head eagle on the reverse, was 33.8753g of .900 fine gold, with an actual gold weight of .9803 oz., worth about $1,125 as bullion at current gold prices. More than 25,000 were struck from 1909-14, and according to the Standard Catalog of World Coins an unspecified number of restrikes were made, dated 1915. In XF grade, the 1909-14 coins are valued at less than current bullion value in the 2008 35th Edition. Restrikes are stated to be worth a 2% premium over bullion value.
