My wife loves going through rolls of Kennedy half dollars looking for silver and “the shiny ones”.

So she was really excited to find this plated gold Kennedy Bicentennial. She’s found other gold plated coins but this was the first Bicentennial.

By the way, does the mintmark appear doubled? 71160879-D09D-4A76-8CCD-CFBD8B98CB78.jpeg

Why would your better half be excited about a coin that has been damaged? The plating relegates it to face value.

Mintmarks were punched into the working die by hand in those days, but I would need a better photo to determine if it is an RPM.

Because she does. Perceived value is only one of many ways to enjoy the things in our lives. My wife sees the beauty in a shiny coin or a bird’s song or a sunset.

Smell the roses, amigo. Smell the roses.

I do like the smell of roses as long as they don't cost $150/dozen.
