Today, at 10 in Sacramento, CA. I am terribly excited! Although I do not have any money to spend there, I am very much looking forward to the experience. Also, I am thinking about selling of my 40% Kennedys to get some 90% in their place. You know, save some space, but also keep the same amount of silver around. What do you guys think? Oh, and I only have like $1.50 face in 40%, so I figure .60 face in 90% would be a fair trade?
Have fun at the show! In regards to the silver, I would suggest you keep what you have and not trade it for 90%, and no you will not get .6 face 90% for it, the dealer will take a cut. I get about 90% of spot when I sell silver, and the dealer sells 90% silver for slightly over spot.
I hope you have a good time at the show Kanderus. Even if you don't buy anything, shows are always a learning experience and fun too. I'm going to the Whitman show next week in Baltimore and hope to pick up some nice pieces there. Let us know about your experience in Sacramento. Bruce
Yay! Window shopping trip! Get some business cards of dealers you like/have what you want to collect later.
Well this was a very small show, maybe 10 vendors. All in all it was fun, and a good learning experience. I didn't have much money to play around with, but man these guys wanted wayyyy too much for junk silver and coins in general! I think I need to wait until I can go to the Santa Clara shows to make anything happen.
The spring 2006 Santa Barbara show was my 1st show when I got back in to coins a few years ago. Decent amount of vendors. If you want a good shop, California Coin and Stamp in SLO is amazing. Alan is a great dealer to establish a relationship with. He's an octagenarian who has been in the business for a while. You should see the Walking Liberty Starter set I picked up from him in '06... I miss the Central Coast... Anyway, glad you had a good time!
This was a small one day show and the 2 day shows are much better. Keep in mind for the next Santa Clara show it is the same weekend as Baltimore and many dealers will be at Baltimore, the show will likely be dead.
