    Hi all,

Work is sending me to Toronto for a week this summer, and I thought I'd buy me a coin while I'm up there. I collect US Half Eagles, and I'd like to find something similar in a Canadian issue. I believe that there were some $5 and $10 gold pieces minted for Canada in the early 1910's, but I'm not sure what to look for. I'll be looking in the $150-$200 price range.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Stephen, those Canadian gold $5 & $10 coins from 1912-14 are very rare. You should buy yourself a Canadian gold Sovereign (1908-19),which has the familiar British St. George reverse, but with the 'C' mintmark of the Ottawa branch of the Royal Mint (as it was then) added below the horse.
