Hello Everyone, As mentioned before, I have 50-60 notes that were suddenly put into my care. Here is one in which I found to be quite striking. It is a $2 Note if 1917 and appears to be brand new(looks like it to me) Until I do the research, and the estate settled, I have decided to cover the Serial# for security reasons. Any of you have this note, or an idea of it's value? Chow...
According to my Black Book 2007 it ranges from Very Fine $75 to Unc $300 it is signed Elliott/Burke? I cant quite make out the sig, also there is a error version but I dont know what the error is LOL Can I ask why you are hiding the serial#? after all that in itself can increase the value of a note quite a bit, I am puzzled when you say for security reasons!!
The reason is that the estate has not been settled and other members of the extended family..well you know the rest! I do not want to get into any battles! Chow...
That is a really nice looking note. It looks like it is in great shape! Good Luck & Thanks for Sharing! Darryl
well, it dosn't really make sense you are covering the seiral number, but ok. i cover the serial numbers on some of my bills because of my second hobby, wheresgeorge. i do that to any bill from the 1980's and newer. nice note btw!:hail:
When I went to put all my banknotes on banknotebank.com the question as to show or hide the serial numbers came up. I thought that someone could say - "Hey! That's my note, and I want it back." But then I thought that this was rather silly to think that there would be such troubles. Then the thought that theft, fire, or some calamity could befall them, and that if I had them pictured online, with the serial number, it would be easier to show the insurance company exactly what I had. And If they were stolen, then I could maybe say - "Hey! That's my note and I want it back." But if they weren't my notes, then that's another story.... Better to play it safe when handling other peoples possesions. BTW - Nice Note. Thanks for posting it here for us to see.
Well, I understand both view s here and the questions why I did this. I have other family members that will claim it was there note they gave to my Father, that is why I am not showing the SN#. Just because I do not put it past them to find this same site that I did. Chow...
I like the design. They are beautiful. Since the estate is not settled, you did the right thing to cover the serial number for reason of ownership. Once the estate settlement is completed, the banknotes with serial number may be displayed if they are yours or with permission from owners. I am sure nobody want any hard feelings among beneficiaries.
