I was just at the Royal Canadian Mint and I saw this new coin http://www.mint.ca/store/coin/dinosaur-25cent-coloured-glowinthedark-coin-2012-prod1290004. It says it is a glow in the dark coin and I think it is cool but I am not sure if it is worth $30. What do you think about this new glow in the dark coins?
Man, I thought the US Mint was getting tacky. Save your money Tristan. I mean, thirty bucks for a quarter piece? Too high a premium. I'm not up on Canadian mint issues but many times US mint issues wind up in the secondary market for lots less than the original release price. If that's also true with Canadian issues my advice would be to wait a while and buy it that way.....that is, if you absolutely have to have this coin. Otherwise pass.......
The RCM has been flooding the market with tacky NCLT for quite some time now. Usually it becomes available in the secondary market for less than the issue price, although a some items have increased in value. It got to the point that the Charlton Catalogue had to be split into 2 editions - 1 for circulating issues and 1 for NCLT. I normally stay away from these issues but I do have a few that I found attractive and got for way less than issue price.
Cute for rich kids, maybe, but not for mine. When I saw the thread title, I immediately thought of walking from one lit room into a dark hallway, and seeing the reflection of light on a Britannia. Now that's class.
Hey, I've got a jar of glow-in-the-dark paint at home! Maybe I'll haul out one of my impaired Kennedy proofs and turn it into a "unique addition to [my] collection".
It´s as cool as a glow in the dark toilet paper........I like when people try to take something old and find a new twist. But I dont like when they spend 4 minutes getting the idea. LET´S MAKE A GLOW IN THE DARK COIN !!!! and everyone goes GREAT IDEA BOB !
