i posted this under the finger print thread but a gentleman wanted pictures of both sides so figured I’d post it. I haven’t posted here before but have spent lots of time reading and I love the grading threads. It has helped me a lot with trying to figure out what a raw coin might be. For some reason I really like the Morgan dollars and that is all I collect.
My brother in law bought me this coin as a gift. He is always complaining because I like “dirty coins” and wanted me to have a shiny one. Says it looks like I just went out and dug my coins up out of the ground. Lol. I do have slabbed ms coins but I am intrigued by circulated coins. I always wonder about where that coin journeyed to before it came into my hands.

There isn’t anything special about the coin besides it’s mine, and was a gift, and oh ya, it’s a CC. Who doesn’t love those.

And a GSA dollar too! Those are special in their own right..... I am like you are, Chad. I love the history that speaks to me in a well used coin.

Thank you for posting in a new thread. Shame about the fingerprint. This coin is a great coin. I think it would have graded higher without the fingerprint. Looks like a die crack on the reverse around DOLLAR and ONE.

Low bag marks, GSA, luster, reflective surfaces and lots more. And a nice CC date to boot. Would love to hear more from you on CT. Beware as your brother-in-law will be asking for your help soon.

Again, thanks for posting in a separate thread. :)

Yes there is a die crack by the one on the reverse and one on the obverse by pluribus. I need to spend more time trying to get good pictures. And it’s even harder trying to get a good picture thru the holders.

    Might be VAM 5B.

Here's an interesting thought about the fingerprint on the reverse. In the early '70s, these coins were handled and packaged only by people wearing gloves. It is quite possible that the fingerprint is that of a CC mint worker from 1883.

The coin also looks quite nice. From what I can see, it should easily grade 64, possibly 65.

The fingerprint of a CC worker from 1883. Now that's a wonderful thought! :)
