This may sound like a stupid question - but it is something I have never tried before. Can you walk into any US bank and change notes for $1 coins without being a customer? If yes, could I buy a roll of $1 and are they likely to be different or a roll of the same coin? I'm hoping you can and the rolls are likely to be different! Thanks
This is just a guess, but I would think that any bank would be more than happy to get rid of rolls of $1 coins to anyone, account holder or not. However, I don't know if you'd have a lot of luck finding banks that have such rolls on hand. Chris
Strange isn't it? I like your coins and not so keen on mine! I guess I'll try a bank or two when passing and see if I get lucky. No idea why dollar coins are not popular there they must be easier than notes.
I buy rolls from many many different banks, only ever had one that had a problem with it. I agree with Chris, dollar rolls are sometimes hard to come by, but have never been denied them when available.
Yes dollar coins are much easier I have many I go to the bank all the time I have almost all the presidential dollar coins and the sacawagwia doller coin but that's not sacawagia on it but if you go to the bank they'll know what your talking about
Different sometimes but if get some out of the roll buy those too and you can even ask them which ones they have
Good luck, I hope you find some rare ones like the one without a edge. I regularly go through a $500 box of halves and find it pretty fun. Most banks beg me to buy them and say, "We have gold coins, want any?" I have a feeling that you could buy them
To be honest I'll buy a roll or two if I can - I have most of the Susan B Johnson dollars and the more recent Sacagawea coins. I'll keep any I don't have and put the rest of any that are not too knocked about on eBay when I get home. They appear to do quite well here.
You could also try to fill out a Presidential dollar album. If you are looking to make money a complete president dollar album sells well.
Not really looking to make money, it is nice to get new for myself and even better knowing the ones I don't want won't cost me too much. I'm hoping to buy 50 State quarters when I visit in May. Actually I'd better check that deal is still on!
I never sell anything I find actually. I filled out my 50 state album before I really got interested in collecting. I still have it. Good luck with the dollars.
