Getting ready to do a box of pennys

Is there any list of coins to look for when doing pennys .

I'm the last person to ask about pennies because they give me headaches, but I will guarantee there will be at least one respondent who will tell you that the Mint doesn't make pennies.

Save anything pre-1959. Also, look for the 1969-S, 1970-S, and 1972 double die obverse cents.

 

Plus these:

1992 Close AM - extremely rare
1992 D Close AM
1998 S Close AM
1999 S Close AM
1999 Wide AM
1998 Wide AM
2000 Wide AM - least rare

I'd argue the 2000 wide am being the least rare, I've found 4 1999 wam vs 2 2000 wam but that's my personal opinion.

Okay, say again. Because I think you just justified your own question.

 

I have found more of the 1999 and 1998 than I have found the 2000 so to me the 2000 is not the least rare.

 

I gave up such folly.

 

Got it. I was looking at the wrong date.
