I’ve been trying to get my kids interested in coins for years. I’ve never been into errors but those are the only coins they seem to enjoy. This one came up when I was looking at an auction site and they were fascinated by it. We had a good talk about why it was rare and so hard to come by. Finally they said so dad when are you bidding on it? LOL! I will have to see if I can pique their interest in more affordable errors.

Awesome Dad! Way to go. Now just get them something cool like an error coin. Maybe someone can recommend an affordable error coin(s). An off-Center error or broadstruck quarter perhaps?

If I remember correctly that item is going for over $22,000

It's considered a Mint Assisted piece and for that amount of money you can get plenty of other legitimate mint errors o_O

I have very affordable errors available on eBay.

Start small, like clipped planchets, lamination errors, struck throughs, etc. Not sure of their ages but it needs to be something they can afford.

I agree errors that you can find in your pocket change, Mis aligned dies, Off centers, and die cracks, LIB's are a lot of fun.

IMO, Pictures will make the most sense to children. Google "Mint Errors" then just save multiple pictures of various error types, show them and see which they prefer. I'm sure you know them well enough to notice when they get excited. Then do some thorough research on those. Good Luck!
