I'm in Mesa, AZ today, saw something in the paper that made me laugh (sarcastically), thought I would share the jist of it, since there is no link to post. Was in the Arizona Republic, a full page 'article' with all the trappings of a real piece of journalism except for the faunt and absurd content. Really it was a full page advert for 'ballistic rolls' of UNC presidential dollars, 'ballistic' meaning they are in lots of 50 coins wrapped in clear plastic and placed in tantalizing gold bar shaped boxes. They are only $98 if you call within 72 hours, oh, plus an unspecified shipping charge. But nowhere in the article does it mention that there are 50 coins per box (I had to count them in the picture to know), even on the boxes, only that it is a total of 425 net grams. Don't forget the 'rarely seen' and 'superb' edge markings! Well, never mind they would be worth more without the edge markings.
I've seen a number of this company's advertisements in our local paper. Including the "ballistic" rolls. If there's money to be made, somebody will figure out a way to make it. Didn't Barnum say something about fools?
GOTTA BUY! GOTTA BUY, GOTTA BUY, GOTTA BUY, GOTTA BUY, GOTTA BUY, GOTTA BUY, GOTTA BUY, GOTTA BUY! Phew! Now for a valium.
I've seen them in Northern California papers too. Good advertising. If you don't know anything about coins you might want to buy these beauties.
I've a few friends and myself that would interpret the usage of that word Ballistic to mean something to shoot at. Not a fan of those coins, that might be a good idea.
I've seen them, too. They also imply that the dollars are in limited quantities and that time is running out for them. They pulled the same crap with state quarters.
