I have been told that this coin looks like a fake. Does anyone think it is real? All thoughts are appreciated! s-l400 (3)-ccfopt.jpg s-l400 (4)-ccfopt.jpg

Everything about the visible portions of the devices matches these fakes from FAC's Fakes gallery. There are many ways to artificially age a coin. The large crack is is not convincing-- notice how the bottom of the crack is rounded and the opening of the crack narrower than the middle. The "crack" was probably by a drill and chisels.

Thanks again. I try not to fog up cointalk with my stupid questions. That's what other forums are for. ;)

NLL... I just saw that you posted this question on CoinCommunity and were given the same answer as I gave, complete with pictures of the same known fakes.

You posted your question on CoinCommunity and received a definitive answer before you posted it here (from @Bob L., who is also a member here). I spent time digging for matches and composing the post for your benefit but it was an unnecessary effort.

There's really no need to hide information from us. Next time if you feel the need to ask the question on another forum after it has been answered elsewhere, at least tell us where you posted it and what the other people said. Wanting to double-check what you were told is understandable but it's perfectly okay to point us to prior posts and answers even if it is on another forum.

..that and what @TIF said..i understand about wanting a coin to be legit, but as you see, you may be asking the same peeps the same question on different venues...we value those peeps professional opinion and wouldn't want to lose it, or you may find yourself having to pay $50 for it.. take heed youngster, you have been reprimanded, hopefully educated and with asking, perhaps forgiven..

Hmm, I thought we (CoinTalkers) were the friendliest of the bunch, coin forum-wise. Maybe I need to lighten up?

(and I'll add several more decimal places of nines to Ominus's chances of the coin being fake)
