I came across this German marriage medal and was wondering about its background. It appears to date from the 17th or early 18th century. The inscription on the obverse reads ("WAS GOTT HATTS GEFUGT DAS UNS GENUGT"), which I translate loosely as "What God has joined is good enough for us"". The reverse inscription reads "VERBUNDENE TREU BLEIBT ALLER ZEIT NEW" which I translate as "A true marriage will always remain new".

Anyway, if anyone has any information about this medal, please let me know.

    Nice medal!
I think the smaller inscriptions may be useful for identifing it?

Does it have the name of the medallist who designed it anywhere on it? I couldn't tell from the enlargements.

Great photos, but the text is still hard to read for me. :) Some bits I can decipher and translate, but I don't know anything about the medla or its designer ...

GOTT HATTS GEFVGT DAS VNS GENVGT
God joined it, that is sufficient for us

(at the bottom) GOTT GIBTS WEM ER WILL (?)
God gives to whomever he wants

VERBVNDNE TREV BLEIBT ALLE ZEIT NEW
Bound faithfulness stays always (as) new

(above the word "bleibt") GOTTES WORT BLEIBET EWIG
The word of god stays forever

(in that semi-circle above) AVS HEILIGER ... DEN HIMMEL ... (?)
