That year/mintmark combination is not exactly rare; if you want to buy one, it may cost about €10. In unc you would have to pay quite a bit more. The absolute minimum would be €2.56 as the piece is still redeemable here in Germany. By the way, I have my doubts about that "AU" ... Christian
Perhaps this is a guesstimate....here is a link to someone selling a 1956 West German five mark coin for $74.99 http://www.ebay.com/itm/West-German-1956-D-SILVER-Five-Marks-KM-112-1-EF-/220533275028
That's why I mentioned the "absolute minimum". A dealer who focuses on the metal value may pay something like €4.50 over here. Christian
I have seen this type of coin before and I agree it is worth it's weight in silver and maybe a small premium. I also agree with chrisild that it is not AU and more likely XF. Also, the eagle is awesome.
Not really sure how you can compare a completely different year and mint mark to the OP's coin. Not to mention you are looking at an asking price. Notice it is still available? Here is another 1957 F for sale. Asking $25. Still too high. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1957-F-West...5117465?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item4ab63e5219
The coin has a weight of 11.2 grams with a fineness of 625/1000 which means it contains 7 grams fine silver, numismatic value is rather low in this condition <13$ (<--Germ. perhaps more in the US).
